♢ CITY INFORMATION
As of May 7th, the first pilgrimage group has successfully made it into the City and can now explore it. Of things to note within the City itself is that there is no one there. Nada. Completely and utterly abandoned save for the Sleepers. All of the facilities remain in-tact and surprisingly preserved. Supplies will be on the low end, with a large, research-oriented greenhouse near the center ring having overgrown although there are plenty of canned and preserved goods if you know where to look. Fresh water is simple, as the City’s filtration system still seems to be in working order. There will be a log post for general exploring of the first week much like the pilgrimage post and the opening week post put up. This is not stopping you from making your own posts, of course, and is merely a post where the mods can write out what you may find wherever you explore. We will be giving you events to react to in the post, so even if you make your own posts, please keep an eye out so you don't accidentally miss something. On the second night (May 9th), an air raid siren will go off inside the City borders. It’s up to the characters to discover the origin and figure out how to turn it off — you can either play this out yourselves, or discuss it here and have a hypothetical “this is where we went, what did we find?” scenario for expediency. When it comes to exploring, almost everything will be something that you can enter in, although many places will be initially locked, such as warehouses or personal residences, with either electronic or manual locks. None of the businesses or households assigned to a Sleeper will be locked and it is up to them to figure out and maintain the system that was in place. As a caveat, the only completely impregnable structure in the City is the Administrative Spire, where the gigantic diamond rests at the top. The lack of NPCs within the City means that... well, really, there isn’t a whole lot for characters to do outside the insistence of them returning to their jobs. Especially if their jobs rely on customers. This is up to the characters to reconcile as they see fit, either through remaining at their posts or using the time to get up to whatever they wish. On May 10th, human-shaped robots will start patrolling the City and communicators will be handed out to everyone in both the Cave and the City. The patrolbots are much like the guard force in the Cave; they hang around and make sure nobody's causing trouble and will punish people if they do. Unlike the text-only bulletin board system and the landline phones that made up the Cave's original communication systems, the communicators will allow the use of portable text, audio, photo, and video communication between both major locales. By the end of the week, a subway system will be announced. It is located underneath the southwest metro line and allows travel between the City and the Cave for those already in the City. People who have yet to go on the pilgrimage will be forbidden from using it until after they've made their way to the City themselves. The people in the City are not the only ones to get new things. There is now a Worker in the Cave's library for those left behind to interact with much like the five that are already in place (and, in fact, has been there in the background since the 2nd). His name is Daniel Jackson, although he goes by Robert Franklin here. The other Workers, for what it’s worth, will act as if he had just come back from vacation or the like. As always, questions, comments and concerns can go here. Please forgive us for the huge delay in getting this post out. It’s pretty inexcusable and we will be doing our best in order to make sure that it will not happen again. |
