♢ PILGRIMAGE INFO
Leaving the Cave The time has come for characters to pick up and head toward the Diamond City. The officials within the Cave are very insistent that everyone who can leave, should leave. People who try to leave and then sneak back in will very likely be caught by Travis or one of his two henchmen, whose stations are right at the mouth of the Cave anyway. This journey is estimated to take about six days, wherein the afternoon of the sixth day, the City will finally come into view. If your character has only been in game since April 24th or later, they may be pulled aside by Tony and offered the chance to stay in the Cave until they have further acclimated. This is up to you/your character whether they would like to take the chance. Their next chance to leave will be May 22nd. All Sleepers will be provided with supplies for their pilgrimage. These include: • One backpack per Sleeper ∘ Enough rations for one week ∘ Changes of clothes for one week (includes windbreakers) ∘ A pair of goggles to ward off the dusty air ∘ Sunscreen • One first aid kit per Sleeper, with two larger kits to be doled out at their discretion • Collapsible tents, one for every five Sleepers • Stun rifles of the same make as the guard force's and hunting knives, one of each per Sleeper • Most importantly: individual compasses that will point in the direction of the Diamond City ∘ A handful of maps, each marked with the names of the Sleepers that should report to certain locales NOTE: If your character has received any sort of contraband from Neal, a small "care package" of sorts might be included at random in one of the backpacks. For example, one of these might end up with five packs of cigarettes for Liam. It is then up to the one who grabbed that pack to try and find the intended recipient or just abscond with the items for themselves. Exploring the Overworld Each day of the journey is marked by a header comment in the log. Use these to decide what event your character will react to! As we mentioned before, there is one death slot open for someone to fall prey to these events and dangers. Anyone who dies during the pilgrimage will find themselves back in the Cave and must wait until the next pilgrimage (May 22nd) to journey to the City. Injuries are potentially unlimited, though we advise against hurting your character too grievously as they will still need to travel with the rest of the Sleepers. It is strongly encouraged for characters to use this opportunity to bond. Surely the Caretaker couldn't be watching and waiting now that the Sleepers have left the Cave, right? This may be their only chance of proper downtime, as no one knows what will happen when they arrive in the City. Characters are allowed to branch off from the main group and attempt to find their own way, although we do not recommend this. The buddy system is key! It's dangerous out on the Overworld. Mutated animals and Hunters alike would love to pick off a lone Sleeper who has wandered from the protection of a group. Powers Character powers will begin to return on the second day. We say "begin" because no one will be at full power to start. Random manifestations of power, either weak or uncontrollable in nature, will be the most of it until at least the fourth day when they begin to properly settle and grow. You are advised to use your own discretion on what may or may not be too much. Keep in mind that you are not obligated to have a power resurface now. The second day of the journey is simply the first opportunity that it might happen. Arrival to the City Thanks to the all powerful coin toss, Sleepers will arrive at the City on the evening of May 7th after a setback with an impassable ravine. The City itself is in completely pristine condition... and utterly abandoned. Feel free to have characters react to their approach or what they can see in the last comment of the log. However, we will be posting a separate, forward-dated one on May 6th for a proper reaction to the City and what characters should do once they get there. The pilgrimage log is for the journey, not the destination. Questions, comment, concerns As always, let us know if there's something we haven't explained or you need clarification on.
